Reader’s Digest Asia-Philippines has announced that it will grant the annual prestigious Gold and Platinum awards to the country’s most trusted brands based on the results of a comprehensive consumer survey on May 31, 2012 at the Genting Club, Resorts World Manila.
The event will also mark Reader’s Digest 90th anniversary, a milestone for the globally popular magazine founded by Dewitt and Lila Wallace in the US.
The general interest magazine is published in 50 editions, translated in 20 languages and employs 2,000 employees worldwide.
A total of 110 awards will be given to companies which scored the highest in the consumer survey under 43 categories such as bank, insurance company, phone service, internet service provider, toothpaste, family restaurant, hospital, camera, car, air conditioner, juice and others.
Now on its 14th consecutive year, the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands survey has since become a marketing institution serving as a barometer in identifying consumer preferences and recommendations and over-all brand appeal of products in various categories.
It is considered as one of the most representative and transparent consumer surveys in Asia with trusted brand results brought about solely by consumers’ brand recall and attribute scoring.
Ipsos, the world’s third largest market research company with offices in 84 countries, conducted the phone and postal consumer survey.
Aside from the Philippines, the consumer survey was also implemented in China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand covering a total of 8,000 respondents consisting of Reader’s Digest subscribers and Asian quality consumers.
Seventy four percent (74%) of respondents in Asia agree that a brand survey voted by consumers is helpful to them in making purchase decisions while 59% say that they are more likely to buy a product whose brand has been named a Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand.
